New color beds cut into a community frontage

Frontage lawn is easy to maintain and says nothing. Two beds changed how the whole approach reads.

The grass along this frontage ran unbroken to the road. Rather than fill it, we cut two beds where they would be seen from a moving car and left the rest of the lawn open.

What we did

Beds were shaped and edged first, because the outline is what gets noticed long before anyone can identify a plant. Cordyline went in as the tall centre, with ixora carried along the front for color at low level. Both hold up to full South Florida sun and neither needs constant replacing.

A young tree already on site was kept and staked into the new bed instead of being worked around, which is usually cheaper than replacing it later.

Afterwards

The beds are trimmed and weeded on the regular maintenance visit. Edges are re-cut each time so the line between bed and turf stays as sharp as it was the week it went in.
